Study apps ask for twenty minutes a day that nobody has, and teach sentences somebody else chose: “the cat drinks the milk”, which you will never say.
Meanwhile, that same person spends two hours a day writing messages. Those are real sentences, theirs, in real situations — and they are exactly the ones they would need to be able to say in the other language.

The first is texting someone, which you were doing anyway. The other four happen on their own, on the material you just produced.
You use Glotta instead of the system keyboard and write normally. As you finish the sentence, the translation appears above the keys. One tap swaps it in and you send that.

Every sentence you write lands in a list, deduplicated: write the same thing three times and you do not get three rows, you get one row with the counter at three.

A spaced-repetition algorithm schedules the reviews, but on a deck no editor chose: your sentences, ordered by how many times you have needed them.

Tap a sentence and it comes apart: the verb with its conjugations, the words worth keeping, the reason for each. And you can ask it questions in a chat.

Impersonal: the subject is the thing you fancy, not the person. After “que” it takes the subjunctive.

A simulated conversation in a messaging style, built from the sentences you wrote today or yesterday. You answer in the language you are learning.
Natural and correct. It is exactly how a native speaker would answer.
Duolingo picks the sentences. Anki asks you to build them by hand.
Glotta compiles the deck from conversations you actually had, and orders it by how often you really use each line. The material is already the right material, without anyone choosing it.
There is no session to start, and no twenty minutes to find.
The moment of learning is the same moment you were already texting someone. The friction is not low: it is zero.
It was not unit 7. It was a real person.
You learn “I miss you” because you were saying it to someone. That is the kind of sentence that sticks, and no course can put it in the right place for you.

One language pair at a time on the free tier. People living abroad use three, and it is the first thing that will be taken out of the way.
Glotta is a keyboard: it sees messages, emails and conversations. That makes an honest description of where the text goes matter more than a reassuring headline.
There is exactly one exception, and it is off until you turn it on: the cloud engine. If you choose it, the sentence you are working on is sent to OpenRouter — only that sentence and the languages involved, not your contacts, not what you type outside it.
No analytics, no tracking SDKs, no third-party telemetry. In password fields iOS passes nothing to the keyboard, so there Glotta neither reads nor learns.
It is the biggest thing this product asks, and we know it. In exchange it asks nothing else: no session to start, no minutes to find, no sentences chosen by somebody else.
From the App Store like any other app. Nothing has changed so far.
Settings ▸ General ▸ Keyboard. Full Access is needed too, because without it there is no audio and no shared store.
